I was 20 years old. It was a concert in Columbus Georgia. We had went and decided to talk to one of my friends who was working the tour. We offered our hair cutting skills to their production team and they knew we were legit and invited us back. When she was cutting hair.. Vince Came back and ask was there a hair party he wasn’t invited to. Lol. He sat beside me and I believe he had just won some big award. My grandfather was a big fan and I explained that he loved him and was just a farmer from South Georgia and thought the only way he could hear Vince was on the radio or Cmt. I said he loved him. He said well let’s call him. There are few times I saw or heard my grandfather ever be that excited Or speechless. He talked for what seemed like forever. My grandfather was for sure I was best friends with Vince. We got to cut their hair a few more years when ever they came to Atlanta. 25 years later on my grandfathers birthday my mom and I went to see him at the Fox. I told his guitarist the story and history repeated itself and my sweet mom got to meet him. It was like my granddaddy was smiling from Heaven that night I have both pictures from the first night and the night years later. Vince even made a joke about how we had aged well… perhaps it’s not the best memory for him but for my family it was so precious. It’s a story that always was shared at holidays and events. His music was the music played at my granddaddy’s funeral and plays today at all our houses. Forever blessed
