When my daughter, Katie, was about 7 I took her to see Vince Gill at Wente Vineyards in Livermore, Calif. (about 1996?) she knew all the words to all his songs as I played his albums all the time and played his songs on my guitar. After the show Katie and I walked back to his Motor home to try and catch a glimpse of him. We were so excited when he walked out and came over to Katie. I asked if I could take his picture with her. The security guy said “no photos”. Vince put his hands on Katie’s shoulders and told me to go ahead and take the picture. We were beyond excited. A few years later I came back to see Vince play there again. I brought the photo I had taken just in case I got to see him. I was walking before the concert to the motor home area. I saw this darling young woman in gray sweats with her hair up in a knot. Lo and behold, it was Amy Grant! Just walking by. I asked her if there was a chance Vince would sign that photo. With a smile she asked me for the photo, disappeared to the motor home and came back with it signed. I almost cried. She was so lovely and kind. That photo is framed and in both Katie’s and my home.
That was my Sweet Memory.
